However, if you are preparing to sell, that may not be your best option as the added value of remodeling/updating may not equal the cost of that project.
Fresh paint, new flooring, and updated lighting/plumbing fixtures make a big difference in appearance and do add value. Additions such as inground pools, decks, patios, and storage buildings, also add value.
However, in most cases they will not increase value at the same rate or greater than their cost to install
